SoundLab Demos: 2-4 pm
JBL Theater Performances: 4-6 pm
A playful gathering of inventors and designers demonstrated and performed with their musical interfaces at Experience Music Project (EMP). This collection of demos and performances was hosted by the highly respected participants of the New Instruments for Musical Expression (NIME) workshop at the Computer Human Interaction (CHI) Conference in Seattle.
This truly was a one-of-a-kind opportunity to see a variety of new instruments and methods for musical control under development from all around the world, all together under one roof! Participants explored and interacted with new musical interface technologies and discussed practical concerns involved in the design of effective musical interfaces. New ground was broken and a dialog created at CHI to address some of the major issues involved in the interplay between technological change and innovation in musical culture.
